ADAM: I CAN EXCEED EXPECTATIONS

Hammill looking to ‘repay the Club’

Adam Hammill believes his reunion with Manager Mark Robins can help him repay the faith that Huddersfield Town has shown in him following his transfer from Wolves.

The Liverpudlian returns on a three year contract and admitted that his previous spell on loan with the Terriers made his decision to move to West Yorkshire very easy.

“I’m absolutely delighted that I’ve been able to come back to the Club; for me, it was a ‘no-brainer’,” Adam told htafc.com.

“I have a lot of repaying to do for the faith the Club and the fans have shown in me; that made a massive impact upon me. The support I got from the Club during my loan spell was second to none.

“I’m also delighted to be working with a familiar team and the Manager who, in the past, has brought my full potential to the fore. The Manager knows my strengths and weakness; he gave me the freedom to express myself on the pitch and my spell under him at Barnsley was the best of my career to date. I think he deals with players excellently on a one-to-one basis and he’s been the right manager for me. I have no doubt that I will thrive under him again.

“I want to come here and play regularly, as I did when I was at my best under Mark at Barnsley. I started fairly well at Wolves, but the last two seasons haven’t gone to plan. This feels like the right time to move on as I’m coming to my prime and I want to kick on.

“I think Huddersfield fans saw glimpses of what I could do in my loan spell, but obviously I got injured in my first start and then I had the off the field incident. I’ve put that behind me now, but that’s why I feel I owe this Club so much and I plan to give it back.”

In order to reach a high level of consistency, Mark Robins has given Adam one instruction – get your head down and work!

“I’ve just got to work hard – that’s what the Manager has said to me. If I do, hopefully my talent will shine through. I’m looking forward to what could be a massive season for me and to prove any doubters wrong.

“I have no doubt that the best is yet to come from me. I want to improve on my form from Barnsley and exceed any expectations, because I believe I have matured into a better player and also a better person.”
