TOWN’S TEAM vs. YEOVIL

29 December 2013

Lynch replaces Gerrard in only change

Joel Lynch comes in for Anthony Gerrard in the only change to the team for today’s 3pm kick-off at home to Yeovil Town.

Gerrard, who was forced off during the first-half of Thursday’s home draw with Derby due to a groin injury, drops to the bench today, with Lynch stepping into the defensive void.

Otherwise Mark Robins has named an unchanged starting XI, with top scorer James Vaughan still out due to a knee injury.

This means that ever-present goalkeeper Alex Smithies will once again captain the side this afternoon behind what is expected to be a continuation of the 3-5-2 formation, with Joel Lynch joining Murray Wallace and Tommy Smith in defence.

Paul Dixon and Adam Hammill will continue as left and right wing-backs respectively, flanking the central midfield trio of Jonathan Hogg, Oliver Norwood and Adam Clayton. Former Manchester City trainee Clayton is making the 150th League appearance of his career today.

In attack, Danny Ward once again partners Martin Paterson.
