LADIES WHO LUNCH GIVES TO FOUNDATION

10 December 2012

Cheque for £707 given to Town’s charity

The Town Foundation gratefully received a cheque for £707 during the half-time interval of Saturday’s thrilling 2-2 draw with Bolton Wanderers courtesy of the Club’s recent ‘Ladies who Lunch’ event.

Proceeds from the raffle on the afternoon, which had a number of magnificent prizes on offer courtesy of several club partners and exhibitors on the day, were donated to the charity, which aims to ‘make the difference’ in our community.

The Commercial Department’s Tracy Nelson (left) and Max Johnson presented the cheque to Town Foundation Corporate Fundraising Officer Mandy Barwick during the half-time interval of Saturday’s game.

The money will now go to good use in our area, with the ‘Early Kick-Off’ Breakfast Clubs preparing for the cold Christmas period by offering hot food and drinks to the local schools involved courtesy of Club Partner Total Foodservice and Caterers Choice.

‘Early Kick-Off’ is an exciting scheme that will help ensure the young people of Huddersfield and the wider community start their day in the right way – with a healthy nutritious breakfast.

Initially ‘Early Kick-Off’ directly benefits around 50 pupils at each of five specially selected primary schools throughout the full 39 week 2012/13 academic year, made possible by generous donations to the Foundation charity and thanks to several Huddersfield Town Club Partners.

Huddersfield Town has joined forces with Total Foodservice, Kirklees College, Kirklees Council, Kid Premiership, Caterers Choice and Stafflex to make ‘Early Kick-Off’ possible. Food wholesalers Total Foodservice and Caterers Choice have used their extensive network of contacts to supply the healthy and nutritious breakfast together for the kids – food such as fruits, grains, dairy products and other protein-rich foods – and Huddersfield Town will deliver it to the schools across the region, completely free of charge.
