Grayson’s men in action at Boundary Park
Simon Grayson is taking a strong first team squad over to Oldham Athletic for a pre-season friendly on Saturday; 3pm kick-off at Boundary Park.
The Town manager was not happy with some aspects of his team’s performance at Crewe Alexandra on Wednesday night and the entire squad will look to put things right when they take on Paul Dickov’s npower League 1 outfit.
The opposition
Oldham boss Paul Dickov knows his opposite number well on Saturday; he played under Simon’s management for both Blackpool and Leeds United.
“I know Simon well and he gets his teams organised but playing good football as well,” Dickov has commented head of Saturday’s game.
“He is the sort of manager players want to play for, like the ones he has been able to bring in. They had a Championship squad last year and have added to it.
“It might be a friendly, but I don’t expect this game to be any different (than previous matches between the two sides) and it should be a good one for the fans.”
The game will be Oldham’s sixth pre-season fixture following wins over Mossley, York City, Fleetwood Town and a Manchester City XI and a defeat to Rotherham United.
Oldham’s squad contains former Town man Robbie Simpson and loanee Lee Croft.

This game is pay at the turnstiles at Boundary Park with prices set at £10 for adults and £5 for under-16s and over 65s.
Directions
Leave the M62 at Junction 20 and take the A627(M) towards Oldham. Take the second slip road off the A627(M) following the signs for Royton (A663). At the top of the slip road you will find a large roundabout that around it has a McDonalds and a KFC. Turn left at the roundabout onto the A663 towards Royton (beware though of 30mph speed cameras on this stretch). You will be able to see Boundary Park over on your right. Take the next right hand turn into Hilbre Avenue which will take you up to the large Club car park, situated behind the demolished stand. The cost of the car park is; cars £5, minibus £10, coaches £15.
If you want to go straight to the Club main entrance, then at the roundabout take the second exit onto A627 Chadderton Way (signposted Oldham). After around 300 yards take the first left into Boundary Park Road and at the end of the road turn right into Sheepfoot Lane.
