U17s BAG FIRST CLARETS CUP WIN

1 December 2020

Confident Young Terriers performance in Clarets Cup win

- Huddersfield Town Under-17s win away at Bradford in Clarets Cup
- Goals from Jeremy Stewart and Conor Falls
- Young Terriers’ first win in the competition

Huddersfield Town Under-17s came out on top at Bradford City in the Clarets Cup on Tuesday morning following a confident performance.

Goals from Jeremy Stewart and Conor Falls either side of half time ensured victory for the Young Terriers, who put their stamp on the game and defended well when required.

They started the game well and saw their first effort on goal - a David Adewoju header - sail narrowly off target.

The good pressure continued until midway through the first half, when Town took the lead. A Conor Falls corner bounced in the box and fell to Jeremy Stewart, who volleyed it in from close range.

The Bantams responded, however, and had the ball in the Town net, only for it to be flagged offside.

The hosts kept piling on the pressure, but the Under-17s were resilient and held out until the break, with notable efforts from Adewoju and Josh Okpolokpo at the back.

Building on a positive first-half, George Danaher’s side came out strong, and grabbed a second early on.

Evander Grubb was unlucky not to have scored, seeing his low strike tipped around the post, however just minutes later Conor Falls would seal the result.

Grubb did well to win the ball high up before playing it into Michael Stone, who flicked the ball over to Falls to tap in from close range.

The home side tried to battle back, but a collective effort from the Young Terriers kept them at bay, earning a thoroughly deserved clean sheet, and a first win in the Clarets Cup this season.
