David Kasumu arrives at Huddersfield Town, from his first and only club Milton Keynes Dons, on a three-year-deal.

Born on 5 October 1999, David hails from Peckham in London – the same place as Town’s Rarmani Edmonds-Green – but moved slightly north to join the MK Dons Academy as a 13-year-old.

David has Nigerian heritage, which led to him receiving a call-up to an Under-15 training camp in July 2015 alongside other UK-based players.

His form for the Academy saw him make an early impression on the senior side, with manager Karl Robinson naming him on the bench for the final two games of the 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship season. However, David – just 16 years old at the time – was unused on both occasions.

Kasumu didn’t have to wait long for his senior debut, however – that came at the start of the 2016/17 campaign, as he started and played 62 minutes in a 3-2 League Cup win at Newport County. He was still just 16 years old.

David continued to make a few senior appearances in a variety of positions over the next couple of seasons and signed his first professional contract with the Club in December 2017.

His league debut arrived on the final day of the 2017/18 Sky Bet League One season, when he came on the final 10 minutes of a 1-0 win at Shrewsbury Town. That capped an excellent end to that season for him, as he was also named the MK Dons Academy Player of the Year!

Kasumu finally established himself in the Dons’ engine room in the 2019/20 campaign, when he made 29 appearances in all competitions – scoring twice. That form earned him another contract in December 2019.

The next two seasons were a similar story, with David a regular in the side when available. Having played 30 games in 2020/21, another 28 games followed last season as the Dons reached the Sky Bet League One Play-Offs.

He arrives at the John Smith’s Stadium having played 93 games in senior competitions, and also having captained his previous team on occasion.

In his debut season for Town, Kasumu has played the most number of minutes in a season then he did during any one season with MK Dons.

2022/23 saw David make 33 appearances and create one assist - he also received nine yellow cards and one red card in his first season.
