Ahead of the visit of Millwall to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday (28 September 2019), htafc.com is looking back at Huddersfield Town’s top five wins against the Lions!

Town have enjoyed some memorable wins over Millwall at the John Smith’s Stadium in recent years.

Here are some of our favourites!

Huddersfield Town 1-0 Millwall – 11/01/2014

Having signed for the Club only 24 hours prior to the game, Nahki Wells scored a 90th minute winner to give Town all three points against Ian Holloway’s Millwall.

Wells found the net from a tight angle to give Town a well-deserved win at the John Smith’s Stadium in the final few moments of the encounter.

The goal was Wells’ first of 49 for the Club across three-and-a-half seasons as a Town player.

Huddersfield Town 2-1 Millwall – 27/09/2014

A Nahki Wells double either side of half-time was enough for the three points and a second win of the 2014/15 Championship season.

An impressive left-footed half-volley from the striker put Town ahead before he grabbed his second of the day to put Town back ahead, after the visitors had equalised, from the penalty spot.

The victory was the Terriers’ first home win of the season and lifted the side out of the relegation zone, nine games into the campaign.

Huddersfield Town 1-0 Millwall – 16/04/2010

A fifth League 1 goal of the campaign for Town’s Peter Clarke was enough to edge past the Lions in a well-fought encounter in West Yorkshire.

The defender headed home Anthony Pilkington’s corner shortly before the interval, and Town held out to take all three points.

The win consolidated Town’s place in the League 1 Play-Offs, where Lee Clark’s Terriers would meet The Lions again, in the Semi-Finals.

Huddersfield Town 3-0 Millwall – 13/04/1996

Town put on a show in the penultimate home game of the 1995/96 Division One season, coming out comfortable 3-0 winners against Jimmy Nicholl’s Millwall side.

Terriers’ forward Ronnie Jepson opened the scoring from the spot before Rob Edwards doubled Town’s advantage to the delight of the majority of the 11,206 fans inside the John Smith’s Stadium.

Andy Booth completed the scoring in what turned out to be Town’s final victory of the 1995/96 campaign.

Huddersfield Town 3-0 Millwall – 20/04/13

Town put together a memorable performance against Millwall in April 2013 to climb out of the Championship relegation places with just two games left to play in the season.

James Vaughan struck on 55th minute, either side of a brace from Jermaine Beckford at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The win was the first game in a three-match unbeaten run that helped to keep Town in the second-tier of English football come the end of the 2012/13 season.

There are still tickets available for the next encounter between the two sides on Saturday (28 September 2019) at the John Smith’s Stadium.
