How do Huddersfield Town’s Academy training sessions differ to England’s? Well, Professional Development Coach Leigh Bromby spent two days with England’s Under-21s to learn new techniques he can teach the Young Terriers.

During the international break, PD Coach Leigh Bromby worked alongside Under-21s Manager Aidy Boothroyd with the Young Lions.

Bromby followed the England youngsters through all training sessions, psychological discussions and analysis meetings to get a full understanding of how they work before bringing notes back to Huddersfield Town.

Leigh Bromby explained how he will introduce a number of new techniques into Town’s Under-23s and Under-18s sides:

“It was a really good experience with England and I will be presenting a number of ideas back to our staff to see if we can incorporate things that they are doing really well here.

“One of the big things I learned from England’s Under-21s was that the FA had been out to America and seen that they’d been doing a lot of unit work.

“So, for our players, the young players, they especially need to learn their position, so they will break off and do defensive work and midfielder work.

“We have got an opportunity now, especially with Mark Hudson working with us to do that. We can then link that to our First team which is a model we will be looking at.

“There were loads of ideas that we will be bringing back and trying to work on.”
