PRE-SEASON PREVIEW: OLDHAM

First Team takes on the Latics on Saturday

Town’s First Team is back in action on Saturday in its latest pre-season friendly ahead of the Sky Bet Championship campaign at Oldham Athletic

A strong side is expected for the 3pm kick-off, comparable to the eleven that looked in fine fettle in defeating another League 1 side, Sheffield United, on Tuesday evening.

Opponents Oldham announced the signing of former Southampton forward Jonathan Forte earlier today; their eighth summer recruit after Joseph Mills, Timothee Dieng, Liam Kelly, Mike Jones, Brian Wilson, William Gros and Amari Morgan-Smith.

New midfielder Kelly, 24 years old, will captain the Latics this term.

With Adam Lockwood injured, the home side is also expected to give a run-out to a trialist; the powerful former Wolves defender George Elokobi.

Manager Lee Johnson’s side has beaten Curzon Ashton, Barrow and most impressively Newcastle United during their pre-season campaign, complementing draws against Melbourne City and Morecambe and a single defeat to Steaua Bucharest.

They’ll be looking to build on last season, when they finished 15th in League 1 in Johnson’s first full season in charge.

The Latics will give a debut to their brand new away kit, so as a result the Terriers will be in their blue and white striped PUMA home kit at the newly named SportsDirect.com Park.

Admission

This game is pay at the gate for Town fans, with admission priced at £10 adults and £5 for over-65s and under-16s.
