- Comments from Leigh Bromby and Mark Fotheringham

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of Joseph Hungbo on loan from Watford for the remainder of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season!

Having already made nine appearances across all competitions for the Hornets this season, his career began with Crystal Palace, making the move to Hertfordshire in 2019.

Turning 23 years old yesterday, Sunday 15 January, this is the fourth loan move of his career following stints with Margate in 2019, Aldershot Town in 2020 and a season with Ross County in the Scottish Premiership across the 2021/22 campaign where he was named Young Player of the Year, Players’ Young Player of the Year and awarded both the club and league Goal of the Season.

A left footed winger who is known to play off the right, Hungbo is blessed with natural pace and is dangerous over the dead ball, all of which are welcome additions to the Town attack.

Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“We’re really excited to bring Joseph into the group and increase the competition for places within our forward line. He’s a dynamic winger who will bring more pace to the team, giving us the option to progress forward in a direct manner.

"He had a really impressive time on loan in the Scottish Premiership last season and has done enough to be involved with the Watford first team this year, so we definitely think he’s ready to come in and contribute at this level straight away.”

Head Coach Mark Fotheringham added:

“Joseph really fits in our team with how we’re looking to play at present, complementing the attacking options we already have available to us out wide and through the middle, whilst introducing something new into the mix.

“It’s no secret that we want to be more dangerous and dynamic in the final third, and Joe possesses the kind of attributes that can help us achieve that goal. Strong on the ball, hard working off it and a threat at set pieces, I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
