Danny Simpson and Kamil Grabara to depart at end of June

- 12 players extend contracts into July to finish season
- Two players set to depart at the end of June

12 First Team players have extended their contracts into July 2020 to help Huddersfield Town in the fight to remain in the Sky Bet Championship.

Elias Kachunga, Jon Gorenc Stanković, Collin Quaner, Joel Coleman, Demeaco Duhaney, Rekeil Pyke and Ryan Schofield have all extended their contracts into July 2020, whilst the loan deals of Jonas Lössl, Emile Smith Rowe, Chris Willock, Andy King and Trevoh Chalobah have also been extended by a further month.

Danny Simpson will depart the Club when his contract expires at the end of June, whilst Kamil Grabara will also return to parent club Liverpool FC.

Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley commented:

“It’s great news that we’ve come to agreements with seven of our players, who are out of contract at the end of the season, to play into July 2020. These are unprecedented circumstances for football and footballers, and I want to thank them for their commitment to the cause at a vital time for the Club.

“As we’ve said already, we cannot commit to any future contracts for senior players now; we need to know what division we’re in, and what next season will look like in terms of start date and circumstances. There’s an awful lot to play for, for both the Club and the players.

“I’d also like to thank the loan clubs and five loan players for agreeing to extend their stays into July. They are five very important players in our squad and it’s fantastic to have them here.”

On Simpson and Grabara, Danny added:

“I must thank Danny and Kamil for their contributions this season and wish them all the best for the future.

“Danny has played regularly since he arrived mid-season. He made a big contribution at a vital time and we respect his decision on his future. We wish him all the best moving forward.

“Kamil is still returning from injury and the timescales on the restart of the season put him at risk of further problems, so it makes sense for everyone for him to return to Liverpool. He’s another player who made a real contribution during the first half of the season and I thank him for his efforts. We wish him all the best; he’ll go on to be a top goalkeeper.”

Decisions on the contracts of Town’s Academy players have also been reached.

20-year-old defender Romoney Crichlow-Noble, whose ended the season with a successful loan spell at sixth tier Welling United, will be offered a new professional contract with the Club.

Under-19 centre back Oran Thompson will be offered a coaching role within the Academy setup, following in the footsteps of current coach George Danaher.

Five players who have completed their two-year scholarships will also be offered first professional contracts; goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi, centre backs Tom Bamford and Nassim Kherbouche, full back Sam Sharrock-Peplow and the versatile Jaheim Headley.

If they accept, they will join three teammates from the same scholarship group who have already signed professional terms; defender Mustapha Olagunju, midfielder Josh Austerfield and striker Kian Harratt.

14 Academy players who are either out of contract or who have completed their two-year scholarships will not be offered new deals and will leave the Club.

Isaac Marriott, Dom Tear and Olly Dyson are among the longest-serving Academy players set to depart; they are joined by Tim Akinola, Kai Herbert, Scott Moloney and Luke Mewitt.

Scholars George Alfieri, Taylor Annakin, Tom Bell, Andrew Ijiwole, Seth Meeson, Darnell Mintus and Remi Thompson will not be offered professional terms.

Everyone at Huddersfield Town would like to thank the players for their hard work and commitment and wishes them all the best for the future.
