Huddersfield Town Academy right-back Omari Mrisho signs first professional contract

- Omari Mrisho signs first professional contract
- Two-year deal for Huddersfield Town Academy right-back
- Comments from Academy Manager Jon Worthington

We are delighted to confirm that Huddersfield Town Academy right-back Omari Mrisho has signed his first professional contract with the Club, agreeing to a two-year deal!

18-year-old Mrisho joined the Terriers on a two-year scholarship in 2022, progressing through our U17 and U19 groups before graduating to B Team level. Matching his raw talent and ability with proper application, his first professional contract is in recognition of the improvement made within his game and potential to get even better.

Having joined as either a central defender or right-back after leaving previous side Brighton & Hove Albion, his development with the Club has seen him establish himself as a confident presence at full-back, being utilised in both back fours and back threes, where he is asked to push higher in more of a wing-back position.

Running from 1 July 2024 for two-years until the summer of 2026, Mrisho will start the 2024/25 campaign within our B Team group, looking to build upon and continue the hard work already done.

Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Jon Worthington commented:

“Omari has all of the natural talent, physicality and intelligence to make it as a professional player, but that step from Academy football to First Team level is all about attitude and application, which are characteristics we believe he possesses.

“Coming on a long way since his arrival at the Club thanks to his work ethic and desire to improve, those are traits he cannot forget or lose. There is more pressure and more opportunity at B Team level, with the eyes of the First Team never far away, and those are challenges he must prepare himself for.

“That said, we are incredibly proud of Omari and he should hold that same pride in this achievement. A first contract is no small milestone, but now this has been achieved, it’s about working even harder with us to make sure there is a career for him to be had long term.”

Congratulations, Omari!
