Supporters attending our Sky Bet Championship game against West Brom on Sunday 10 March should be aware of works affecting train travel in the area.
Network Rail is carrying out major improvement works in the Huddersfield area on Sunday as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade. As a result, train services will not be running through Huddersfield and may be diverted and running to an amended timetable on some parts of the network, meaning journey time may be extended.
Rail replacement buses will be in operation into Huddersfield leaving from St George’s Square, and customers are advised to change at Brighouse for travel to and from Huddersfield.
Here’s information on the specific routes that will be affected.
TransPennine Express services
- Liverpool-Newcastle services will be diverted between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury via Brighouse and the Calder Valley route.
- Manchester-Saltburn services will start and finish at Manchester Victoria instead of Manchester Airport. They will be diverted between Manchester Victoria and Dewsbury via Brighouse and the Calder Valley route.
- Manchester Piccadilly-Hull services will run hourly between Leeds and Hull only.
- Manchester Piccadilly-Huddersfield local services will run between Manchester Piccadilly and Marsden only.
Northern services
- Sheffield-Huddersfield services will start and finish at Lockwood instead of Huddersfield.
- Huddersfield-Bradford Interchange services will not run.
Rail replacement bus services will run between:
- Manchester Airport-Huddersfield via Stockport hourly
- Manchester Piccadilly-Huddersfield every 20 minutes
- Marsden-Huddersfield hourly
- Lockwood-Huddersfield
- Huddersfield-Brighouse every 30 minutes
- Huddersfield-Brighouse-Halifax hourly
- Huddersfield-Leeds (all stations) hourly
