Huddersfield Town Head Coach Michael Duff confirms First Team Assistant Coaches

- Huddersfield Town confirm First Team Assistant Coaches
- Martin Paterson rejoins Club as Assistant Coach
- Kevin Russell to continue as Assistant Coach alongside Paterson

Huddersfield Town Head Coach Michael Duff has confirmed his First Team coaching staff, with Martin Paterson rejoining the Club as Assistant Coach alongside Kevin Russell.

37-year-old Paterson is a former Terrier having represented the Club between 2013-2015, but his path first crossed with Duff’s in Lancashire at Burnley, where they were teammates. Also part of the same Northern Ireland side, following assistant coaching roles across America for Tampa Bay, Fort Lauderdale and Inter Miami, the pair were reunited at Barnsley.

Moving with Duff to Swansea City, Paterson departed the Club at the same time, taking the opportunity to become Head Coach at Burton Albion in January 2024. Helping the side avoid relegation from Sky Bet League One, he left the club having completed a short-term contract in order to once again work alongside our Head Coach.

A familiar faces at the Club having initially joined as B Team Manager in the 2023/24 campaign, Kevin Russell will continue on as Assistant Coach under Michael Duff, too.

Working as assistant to both Jon Worthington and André Breitenreiter last season, Russell has previously been an assistant with Preston North End, Peterborough United, Wrexham and Cheltenham Town, with a vast experience in Sky Bet League One.

Having crossed paths coaching in youth football and enjoyed stretches at Cheltenham Town in close proximity, Duff and Russell are no strangers either, with this their first opportunity to work together closely.

We can also confirm that both Thomas Kleine and Asif Šarić have departed the Club with our thanks and best wishes for the future.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach Michael Duff commented:

“With work and planning for the season ahead already well underway, it’s great to have my assistants in position to begin their roles in good time, too.

“Kevin has a great reputation and knowledge of the game and Club, and I’m looking forward to working more closely with him after knowing each other for a long time. Martin is a person and coach I know really well from the past too, with an established working relationship and understanding in place, so I’m delighted to have him alongside us once again as well.

“We’re only a few weeks away from the players retuning for the start of pre-season with our first friendly later this month too, and I couldn’t be hungrier and more excited to get the hard work started out on the grass.”

With full support available from our existing performance, medical and analysis staff, our Assistant Coaches are in place and set to begin work alongside Head Coach Duff with immediate effect. The group’s first friendly fixture in charge of the First Team will be our pre-season trip to Emley AFC, which you can find more about tickets for by CLICKING HERE.
