LOAN: JOSH AUSTERFIELD JOINS CREWE ALEXANDRA

Huddersfield Town midfielder moves to Sky Bet League Two club

- Comments from Sporting Director Mark Cartwright

Town midfielder Josh Austerfield has today joined Sky Bet League Two side Crewe Alexandra on loan for the rest of the 2023/24 season.

The 22-year-old, who has made six First Team appearances for the Terriers, joins up with the Railwaymen as they look to continue their run of three straight wins that has propelled them to fifth in the table.

Managed by Lee Bell, Crewe have 47 points from 27 games so far this term. Their squad includes another Town loanee, Aaron Rowe, who has scored four goals and contributed four assists in 25 games for the club.

This is the latest loan for Josh, who has previously spent time at Morecambe, Harrogate Town, Hyde United, and Brighouse Town.

He is contracted to Huddersfield Town until the summer of 2026.

Town’s Sporting Director Mark Cartwright commented:

“This is a good move for Josh. He needs to play regular football at this point in his career and that isn’t something we can offer him with the depth of options we now have in central midfield.

“Crewe are playing well and have a lot at stake during the second half of the season, so Josh now has the challenge of breaking into and establishing himself in a side that is already performing.”

Good luck, Josh!
