We look back at Rhys Healey’s career to date as he joins Huddersfield Town

Manchester-born Rhys got his career started across the border in Wales, rising through the ranks at Welsh side Connah’s Quay Nomads in his teenage years.
Scoring 16 times in the Welsh Premier League at the start of the 2012/13 season, the then 18-year-old forward earned himself a move to Cardiff City in January 2013, where he would go on to make his debut in the Premier League against Chelsea a year later in May 2014.
A series of loans would follow, which is where Healey showed his ability to score a variety of goals in a blend of environments, styles and sides - going to Sky Bet League One with Colchester United in September 2014, he netted on debut and had four in his first 10 outings for the side, which was a sign of things to come.
Followed up by a move to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on loan a year later, he would return to Cardiff City sooner than anticipated due to injury. Having regained fitness, his next challenge on loan came with Newport County in Sky Bet League Two in August 2016, which led to him breaking into the Cardiff City side on his return.
Awarded with a new deal by the Bluebirds, six goals in eight games on loan at Torquay United in March 2018 caught the eye of Milton Keynes Dons, who took him on loan the following August - his eight goals in 18 Sky Bet League Two games contributed to their successful promotion, and the move was soon made permanent. Repaying their faith with a team best 12 goals in 20 appearances, his performances saw him named Players’ Player of the Year, opening the door to the biggest move of his career to date.
Taking a leap, Healey then moved to French side Toulouse in Ligue 2 for an undisclosed fee, and while his grasp of the language needed time, his football didn’t - 14 goals in 32 league games followed, and the forward never looked back. Now a fixture in the side, the following campaign he bettered himself with 20 goals in 32 games as Toulouse won the league and earned automatic promotion as he look home the competition’s golden boot. Named the division’s Player of the Month on three occasions that season, too, he was firmly in the club’s plans for their return to the French top flight.
Not taking long to get used to Ligue 1, he scored in just their second game back at that level, but sadly missed the majority of the campaign sidelined with injury. Returning toward the tail end of the season, he scored again on the final day against Monaco, securing a 2-1 win. Moving back to England in the summer of 2023 to Watford on the back of 39 goals in 77 games for Toulouse, he has netted twice this season already despite limited minutes, converting a goal every 98 minutes he was on the field.
Standing at 5’11, Healey is capable of scoring goals with either foot and in the air, with his record over the past five season’s of his career almost one goal in two games.
