- Stockport County 0-2 Huddersfield Town B
- Goals from Omari Mrisho and Hazeem Bakre
- Young Terriers could have won by more with late chances

The Huddersfield Town B Team got back to winning ways on Tuesday afternoon, winning 2-0 in a behind-closed-doors game at Stockport County.

Right back Omari Mrisho and substitute forward Hazeem Bakre scored the goals for the Young Terriers.

The first goal of the game came as early as the fifth minute, with right back Mrisho finishing excellently.

Cian Philpott won the ball inside the Stockport half before finding Omari with a reverse pass infield; he looked up for a pass, but instead spotted a gap between two defenders that he surged through before firing a fantastic shot across the goalkeeper and inside the far post.

Stockport did carry a threat at the other end but didn’t test Town goalkeeper Michael Acquah due to errant shooting from outside the penalty area and some good defending from the Young Terriers.

Acquah did have to make a save when the second half got under way, tipping a shot from inside the penalty area over the bar – defender Charles Ondo may have also played a role in deflecting the shot over.

However, the goal from substitute Bakre just after the hour mark practically settled the game in Town’s favour. The Under-19 forward had been introduced by coach Michael Tonge just five minutes earlier and finished nicely after Town’s high press paid off.

Our pressure forced a poor kick out from the home goalkeeper, and our trialist number 10 quickly found Myles Bright. The midfielder cleverly backheeled the ball into the path of Bakre, who stepped across the final defender to get on his favoured left foot inside the area before hammering the ball hard across the goalkeeper.

Town had a fair few chances after that and should have extended their lead. Bakre should have doubled his tally twice, shooting straight at the goalkeeper when well positioned in the 75th minute before firing way over after doing all the hard work in added time.

The trialist 10 should have tested the goalkeeper too but bent a shot over the crossbar when well placed inside the penalty area.
