We are delighted to announce that Huddersfield Town have been named as a finalist in this year's Disability Smart Award nominees!

Shortlisted in the category for Disability Smart Accessible Built Environment Award, Town are delighted to have been named as a finalist for the award in recognition of our Inclusion Room, sponsored by Thornhill Dental, at the John Smith's Stadium.

The annual Disability Smart Awards recognise organisations that are improving the life experiences of disabled individuals by removing barriers to inclusion.

The awards are a platform to showcase real life projects that have had a positive impact on disabled peoples' lives, such as Town's Inclusion Room.

Our Terriers Together Inclusion Room is a safe space in which different groups of supporters can attend our home fixtures and feel confident that their individual needs will be catered for.

At Town, we recognise that not all supporters are able to attend matches if they have no alternative but to sit in the main stands, and so our Inclusion Room enables all supporters to enjoy the game from a place they feel most comfortable.

The room itself contains a range of sensory equipment - which may be particularly beneficial to autistic supporters and/or individuals with sensory processing needs - alongside bean bags and soft throws, to provide additional comfort and warmth as may be required.

One half of the Inclusion Room can also be closed off to the external environment with the blinds that are installed, and the lighting can be adjusted to suit individual preferences.

Head of Supporter Experience Robyn Kennerdale commented:

"We're absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted for this award, and we're incredibly proud of the work we've been doing behind-the-scenes at Huddersfield Town.

"Our Terriers Together campaign helps ensure that all supporters can visit the John Smith's Stadium and enjoy the game in a welcoming and supportive environment - with our Inclusion Room encapsulating our commintment to inclusivity in football.

"It's been great to see how this area has helped so many supporters already, and long may that continue."
