- Comments from Head of Academy Recruitment Lee Mellor

We’re delighted to announce that Cameron Ashia has joined the Huddersfield Town B Team following a successful trial period!

The 18-year-old midfielder joins the club as a free agent, having previously played for Derby County at Academy level.

Cameron, who has agreed a professional contract running until the summer of 2025, impressed our Academy coaches during an extended trial period with the club, during which he played games for our B Team.

Prior to joining Derby County, Cameron started his development as a footballer with the Fox Academy in London.

The video above shows Cameron getting the assist for Pat Jones' recent Central League goal against Mansfield Town.

Town’s Head of Academy Recruitment Lee Mellor explained:

“Cameron impressed us all during his trial period and we’re delighted to officially welcome him to the club today as a full-time member of the Young Terriers.

“He’s got some good qualities that work well in his favoured position as an attack-minded midfielder. He’s got real intent to play forward when he gets on the ball, he’s a good athlete and, just as importantly, he’s got a fantastic attitude when it comes to his work ethic off the ball too.

“We feel there is the potential for Cameron to really improve in our coaching programme, and we’re all excited to work with him.”
