Huddersfield Town has appointed Domenic Notarfrancesco to the newly created role of Director of Global Brand.

Hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Domenic – a graduate of Drexel University – arrives at Huddersfield Town with high-level experience working in the NHL, NBA and in soccer in the United States.

Following time honing his craft in the NHL and NBA, Domenic spent three years as Director of Retail for National Hockey League side Nashville Predators. There he built a retail operation from scratch, opening a new 6,000 sq. ft. retail store in the 2014/15 season and working with the city of Nashville as the club reached the Stanley Cup Final two years later.

He spent the next three years as General Manager of Retail with NBA giants San Antonio Spurs in Texas, where he expanded their global footprint on the back of a real period of success. That included opening more stores throughout the city, working with popular brands and players to improve their product range and expanding their ecommerce platform.

Most recently Domenic has worked with the United Soccer League, alongside current Town CEO Jake Edwards, both to build their merchandising operation and to provide strategic assistance to member clubs. A big part of that work was in building the brand of the league, increasing revenues across the board.

Chief Executive Jake Edwards explained:

“Domenic’s appointment to this newly created position is a big part of our strategy to expand the appeal and awareness of Huddersfield Town to a much wider audience.

“We clearly have a very strong presence in our local community, but we believe that this club has the ability and potential to resonate with a much wider audience, both nationally and globally, because of its extraordinary history, which gives it a unique position in English football, and through its exciting future.

“Domenic brings vast experience in many of the revenue generating roles at sports clubs from many different industries in the United States, and he will be able to open lots of doors in that market whilst also evaluating the effectiveness of our current operation.

“Without going into finite detail publicly at this stage, we have expansion plans for areas such as merchandising that we think will really excite our fans. That encompasses the bricks and mortar operation, and also our ecommerce operation.

“I’m delighted that Domenic has joined us, and I’m excited to see his work come to fruition.”

His appointment comes on the back of the appointments of Lee Maybury as Head of Recruitment and David Wetherall as Strategic Advisor to the Academy.
