Huddersfield Town take further year option on contracts of three First Team players
- Pearson, Headley and Jackson have contracts extended
- Option years taken keeping all three until 2025
- Comments from Manager Darren Moore and Sporting Director Mark Cartwright
We are delighted to confirm that Matty Pearson, Jaheim Headley and Ben Jackson have all had their contracts extended, with the option year on all three deals taken for the 2024/25 campaign!
The trio had contracts that were due to expire in the summer of 2024, but having agreed to additional option years when they signed, those have now been taken by the Club in all three cases.
Central defender Pearson joined the Club from Luton Town on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 and has become a firm fan favourite, with both Jaheim Headley and Ben Jackson progressing through our Academy to be part of our First Team group on a regular basis.
Huddersfield Town Manager Darren Moore commented:
“All three players have really impressed me in the short time I’ve been at the Club, not only in how they have performed but their commitment and attitude in training, too.
“Matty Pearson is a player I’ve long admired and he has been fantastic for the Club since he signed, becoming a really influential senior figure in our dressing room.
“Jaheim and Ben are both earlier in their careers, but have shown their ability when given opportunities, and I’m looking forward to seeing how then develop in our programme.”
Sporting Director Mark Cartwright added:
“Having secured Darren, we’re in a position to think about how the squad will begin to look going forward – with an option to take on Matty, Jaheim and Ben’s deal, it made perfect sense to do so.
“Matty is a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room, and his performances and commitment can’t be questioned – he’s someone that can help set a culture for us.
“We think really highly of both Jaheim and Ben who have done brilliantly to come through our Academy, they have huge potential and we’re excited to see how they progress as they work with Darren.”
