REVIEW: 160 TERRIERS COMPLETE MILES FOR MARCUS!

Latest charity Walk For Pounds has raised over £28,000 for the Darby Rimmer Foundation so far

- Walk For Pounds: Miles For Marcus a huge success
- 160 Terriers complete event, raising over £28,000
- Thank you to title sponsors Chadwick Lawrence for their support

Battling the hills of Huddersfield ahead of our Sky Bet Championship home fixture with Ipswich Town, we’re delighted to share that our Miles For Marcus charity walk has currently raised over £28,000!

Completing either 18 miles or our shorter four mile accessible route, 160 participants pushed themselves in honour of Marcus Stewart, who was diagnosed with MND last year, raising money for the Darby Rimmer Foundation.

A fantastic event as always, the walk was made possible thanks to the support of title sponsors Chadwick Lawrence, with One17 Design, TMC, Huddersfield Rugby Union, Marshalls, Approved Food and Shepley Spring and our amazing supporter team volunteers on the day all playing their part.

Head of Supporter Services Robyn Kennerdale commented:

“Organising these events are always the highlight of our season as it’s always special to see the football community come together for good. It was wonderful to have not only Town fans showing up to support Marcus in numbers, but representatives from Ipswich Town and Exeter City, too.

“For the first time we organised a shorter accessible route to run alongside the longer challenge, and we have been delighted to see the interest in that option too. Ensuring that as many people as possible can take part was a real focus of ours, so to see walkers of all ages and abilities pushing themselves for an amazing cause was especially heartening.

“We’re incredibly thankful to Chadwick Lawrence for their sponsorship and support, as well as everyone who has taken the time to donate and get behind those taking part - culminating in that amazing reception during our lap of honour before kick-off on Saturday afternoon.

“Marcus is obviously a Club legend, so to see how much the event meant to him and his family was incredibly meaningful, and we’re delighted to have raised so much money for a cause so close to his heart.”

Club Ambassador Andy Booth added:

“I love these events because they always show just how brilliant Huddersfield Town supporters are, especially when we’re getting behind someone like Stewy who we all care so much about.

“It was great to see so many people taking part on both routes, and despite the milage actually being less than we’ve done before, the hills around Huddersfield probably made this our toughest challenge to date – everyone did amazingly well to finish the walk though, so they should all be hugely proud of themselves.

“We’ve raised a fantastic amount for a really important cause so far which we’re all incredibly thankful for, but if you are able to, please do dig deep and give what you can because you will be making a real difference.”

Donations are still being accepted for Miles For Marcus as we look to raise as much as possible for the Darby Rimmer Foundation in the battled against Motor Neurone Disease. CLICK HERE to make a difference and give what you can if possible.
