Darren Moore was denied his first win at Town Manager in his first game in charge at the John Smith’s Stadium with top of the table Ipswich Town levelling late on.

A win for Town would have been far from undeserved, with the Terriers flying out of the blocks in HD1 and taking the initiative, playing on the front foot and looking to make an impression on the game as quickly as possible.

Denied by a mix of unlucky breaks in the box and an outstanding goalkeeping performance from the visiting stopper, Town were on top for the majority of the half but couldn’t gain an advantage, heading in level at the break.

With the flow of the game much the same in the second period, it wasn’t until Delano Burgzorg cut in from the left and fired in with a powerful low strike that Town got the lead they deserved. With chances to double their lead, the Terriers couldn’t put the game to bed and would ultimately regret that.

Committing more bodies forward in the final 10 minutes as they looked for a way back into the game, Lee Nicholls made one miraculous reflex save a few minutes before a goalmouth scramble ended with Brandon Williams popping up in the right place to head home and earn a point for his side.

Ending a draw, it was an encouraging showing from Town and another glimpse at how Darren Moore is wanting his side to play.
