Despite making a handful of promising openings in front of goal, Town were unable to break the deadlock against a spirited Sheffield Wednesday side, having instead to settle for a point each.

Played at a great pace from the off with the crowd contributing a great atmosphere, both sides didn’t have enough composure in the final third early on to create any serious problems - taking it in turns to attacks, moves would often breakdown with a forced final ball cut out or rushed strike failing to trouble the goalkeeper.

Town’s best moments in the final third in the first half centred around Delano Burgzorg, who’s desire to take players on was both the start and end of many attacks. While the expressive Dutchman’s skill was excellent in creating space and confusion at the back, he held on to the ball too long on more than one occasion, losing the advantage he had previously created.

The second half followed much the same pattern, and while set pieces for each side did cause momentarily worry, open play was still broken and lacking real quality for both. With a ball half cleared from a Town dead ball swung into the box, Kian Harratt struck first time into the goal but the referee had awarded a free-kick in the other direction.

With neither side wanting to lose, the final stages of the game played out without much incident and both sides secured another point. The clean sheet for Town was goalkeeper Lee Nicholls’ 100th of his senior career to date in little over 300 appearances, with both our number one and defensive unit showing a reaction from the defeat earlier in the week.
