17-year-old joins after impressing on trial
- Donnell Garrick joins the Huddersfield Town Under-19s
- 17-year-old from Wakefield has previously played for Emley
- Winger joins the Academy permanently after trial period
The Huddersfield Town Academy has recently completed the signing of Donnell Garrick for the Under-19 group after an extended trial period.
The 17-year-old winger, who has featured in several games for Oran Thompson and Michael Tonge’s youngsters over recent weeks, now joins the Young Terriers on a permanent basis for the 2023/24 season.
Donnell is a local lad, hailing from the Wakefield area, and has previously been on the books of our local non-league neighbours Emley.
Like the path that current B Team midfielder Michael Stone took when he joined the club, he has joined the Academy on a playing contract that will allow him to continue his A Level studies at Greenhead College.
Football runs in the family for Donnell; his older brother Jordon Garrick currently plays for Sky Bet League Two side Forest Green Rovers.
Head of Academy Recruitment Lee Mellor commented:
“Donnell has applied himself very well during his trial period with us and has earned this longer opportunity with us. He’s clearly got talent, but now the hard work with our coaches begins for him daily!
“We’re always delighted when we can source talented young footballers locally. I would like to thank the good people at Emley for their cooperation in allowing Donnell to continue his journey in football with us.”
