Danny Ward vs Sheffield United (H) – First Place
Out of the 10 top goals of the season, Town fans voted for Danny Ward’s strike from outside the box against Sheffield United as their Goal of the Season.
Our penultimate game of the season, Ward secured our safety in the Sky Bet Championship for next season in front of the Town fans at the John Smith’s Stadium.
In the 59th minute, the striker spun his man with his back to the ball following a throw in and fired the ball into the bottom right corner from outside the box with his left foot.
Due to the significance of the goal as well as the quality of the strike, Wardy picked up over 30% of the votes.
Josh Ruffels vs QPR (A) – Second Place
Ruffels’ second goal against QPR clinched second place in the Goal of the Season vote.
A recap of the goal; Will Boyle’s header from a Sorba Thomas free kick was half blocked into the path of Ruffels, who brilliantly teed the ball up on his knee before he hooked the ball over his shoulder with his back to the goal, looping it into the back of the net.
Joe Hungbo vs Reading (H) – Third Place
Our final goal of the 2022/23 season was scored by Watford loanee Joseph Hungbo against Reading as he secured our 2-0 lead.
The 23-year-old came off the bench and scored his third Town goal of the season in the 85th minute. He curled his shot into the opposite corner of the goal to finish the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season.
