Club deeply saddened by loss of former Academy Coach

Everyone at Huddersfield Town is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former Academy Coach Neil Matthews on Monday after a battle with cancer.
Neil, who played as a striker for several teams – most notably Halifax Town and Lincoln City – worked as a coach in our Academy from September 2003 until October 2017, progressing to become the lead coach for our Under-12 to Under-16 group.
He subsequently joined Bradford City’s Academy, where he progressed to become their Academy Manager in September 2019.
We were shocked to learn of his passing on Monday, aged 56.
Many of us had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside Neil for many years, and will remember him as a kind, generous and popular man.
Our thoughts are with his wife Sue, his family, friends, and our colleagues at Bradford City.
