FINAL LOAN ROUND-UP OF THE 2022/23 SEASON!

16 May 2023

A final round up on how Town’s players have performed at their loan clubs

- Round up of Huddersfield Town’s loan players
- Matty Daly on the scoresheet towards the end of the season
- Romoney Crichlow competing in Play-Offs with Bradford City

Huddersfield Town had 14 players out on loan towards the end of the season, with Romoney Crichlow still with Bradford City as they continue their Play-Off campaign to reach Sky Bet League One and Loick Ayina completing the Scottish Premiership season with Dundee United.

A host of Young Terriers have made an impact at senior level this season and gained invaluable experience in competitive first team football.

Loick Ayina - Dundee United

Ayina went on loan to Scottish Premiership side Dundee United on transfer deadline day in January and has currently made nine appearances after receiving a red card in his first game for Dundee United in the Scottish Cup fifth round.

Loick is currently still with Dundee United as they have three games remaining of the season against Livingston, Kilmarnock and Motherwell.

Romoney Crichlow – Bradford City

Our only player out on loan who is still playing, Crichlow is part of the Bradford City side who are competing in the Play-Offs for their spot at Wembley and in the Sky Bet League One next season.

Crichlow has made 35 Sky Bet League Two appearances with Bradford City this season and scored one goal as the side finished sixth in the table.

The 23-year-old also played the full 90 minutes of the first leg of the Play-Off semi-finals against Carlisle, which saw the Bantams get one step closer to Wembley.

Matty Daly – Harrogate Town

Matty Daly had a big impact and a successful loan season in North Yorkshire, making 35 appearances for Harrogate Town, scoring seven times – most recently against their win over Mansfield Town as he came on off the bench and then scored in the 39th minute in the Sulphurites’ penultimate game of the season.

The 22-year-old midfielder joined the club at the start of the season and stayed with Harrogate helping them secure safety and finish 19th in Sky Bet League Two.

Danny Grant – Harrogate Town

Grant made 28 appearances this season whilst on loan with Harrogate Town and has scored once whilst making three assists this season.

The 23-year-old played a big part in keeping the Sulphurites in the Sky Bet League Two but was unfortunate to pick up an injury that kept him out until the end of the season.

Josh Austerfield – Morecambe

Josh Austerfield moved up from playing Sky Bet League Two football at the beginning of the season with Harrogate Town to playing Sky Bet League One football with Morecambe when he started his loan in January after Kieran Phillips returned to Town due to picking up a lengthy injury.

Despite Morecambe finishing 22nd in the Sky Bet League One table and being relegated to Sky Bet League Two, the 21-year-old midfielder made 14 appearances for the Shrimps since January.

Aaron Rowe - Stockport County

Another of our loanees currently still playing as Stockport County are in the Sky Bet League Two Play-Off Semi-Finals, they go into the second leg against Salford City 1-0 down but the second leg is a home fixture for them to turn the score around.

Rowe has made three appearances for Stockport County, including making an appearance in the Play-Off Semi-Final.

Tom Iorpenda – Hyde United

Our Academy Player of the Season joined Hyde United on loan in March for the remainder of the season, he went straight into the starting XI for his first game and then made a further six appearances.

This loan experience allowed Iorpenda to gain invaluable first team football experience as well as showing him what to expect within a senior team and league.

Michael Stone – Liversedge FC

Stone made nine appearances during his loan spell with Liversedge FC, including his start in their West Riding FA County Cup game against Campion AFC. Despite Liversedge taking the lead, Campion came from behind and stole the win.

Conor Falls – Liversedge FC

Falls joined Northern Premier League side Liversedge FC on loan alongside Stone in order to gain experience.

The Northern Ireland U19 international made five appearances for the side, starting one and coming off the bench looking to make an impact in the other four appearances.

Myles Bright – Hemel Hempstead Town

Bright joined National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town on loan in March 2023 to gain senior experience before the end of the season.

During his time on loan, the 20-year-old midfielder has made five appearances from March to April to end the season where the Tudors finished 15th in the National League South table.

Ryan Schofield – Crawley Town

After starting the season on loan with Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, Schofield joined Sky Bet League Two side Crawley Town in January where he went on to make two senior appearances.

Giosue Bellagambi - Salford City

Bellagambi started the season at Hyde United where he made 12 appearances, starting all of them before he moved to Spennymoor Town and made 14 appearances.

Bellagambi is currently still out on loan with Salford City, after joining them in January, as they head into their second leg of the Play-Off Semi-Finals against Stockport after they were victorious in the first home leg.

Although Bellagambi joined Salford City in January, he has been on the bench second to Alex Cairns, who is currently on loan with Salford City from Fleetwood Town.

Josh Mazfari – Tadcaster Albion

Our young ‘keeper joined Tadcaster Albion on loan at the beginning of January and had his loan spell extended twice after impressing the club, he remained there until the end of the season.

Mazfari was in goal for Tadcaster Albion 15 times this season.

Sam Taylor – Northallerton Town

Our 18-year-old ‘keeper has been on loan with Northallerton Town since the beginning of the season in August 2022.
