ETIENNE CAMARA MAKES FRANCE U20 DEBUT!

Young Terrier plays in win over Honduras.

- Etienne Camara makes his France Under-20 debut
- 20-year-old plays in the FIFA U20 World Cup
- Camara plays 90 minutes in win over Honduras

Etienne Camara made his debut for the France Under-20 side on Sunday evening, playing 90 minutes as his nation defeated Honduras 3-1.

Having been an unused substitute as the French side lost 2-1 to Korea Republic and Gambia in their first two group games, Etienne came into the starting side and played 90 minutes in central midfield as his team came incredibly close to progressing to the knockout stages in the most unlikely circumstances.

Things started badly for Etienne and his teammates when their centre back Ousmane Camara (no relation) was sent off in the 13th minute for a foul right on the edge of their own box, from which the Hondurans scored the opener.

Camara’s side needed to win by three clear goals to progress as one of the best sides to finish third in their group and, despite the man disadvantage, went so close, winning 3-1 and hitting the woodwork late in the game.

Etienne was substituted deep into second half added time, having done well upon growing into the game on a difficult pitch in Argentina. He had a hand in France’s 41st minute equaliser, playing the pass that set a counterattack into the opposition half.

Sadly, for Etienne and his teammates, they now return from South America after failing to progress.
