Completing the opening 45 minutes of an emphatic 7-1 home win for the B Team, winger Pat Jones shared his happiness at full-time, discussing his fitness, performance and the result.

With his minutes still being regulated as he continues to build himself back to full fitness, the winger said he was pleased to be back playing, sharing his happiness with the scoreline and his own performance.

“It felt good, it was a really good run out.

“It’s important for a lot of us at the minute to be getting some time on the pitch, and it was really pleasing to score seven as well.

“I really enjoyed it, I felt sharp and that felt good.

“I’m just enjoying playing football again really and I’m really pleased to contribute.

“It’s always enjoyable to be playing with a group of mates too!”

Going on to talk about his injury problems and long term goals, the Welsh youth international was honest enough to admit that his main focus is currently maintaining his fitness as he looks to ultimately break back into the First Team.

“Every time I come back I feel the same, dealing with the set backs.

“When I feel like I’m getting somewhere, something else happens, but whenever I have played I’ve felt normal and felt the same but it’s just about bouncing back, keeping going, remaining consistent and playing football and staying on the pitch.

“They were a little bit younger than us and we had a few lads who have played in the First Team, but today was about getting some confidence back and more minutes in the legs.

“Maintaining fitness is my priority, it’s been a difficult couple of years but I just want to play week in and week out, stay on the grass and keep playing football.

“The end goal is playing more with the First Team, but right now I just want to make sure I can stay injury free.”
