A first half penalty from John Swift proved to be the telling moment at the Hawthorns as Town performed well against an in-form West Brom side away from home.

Having arguably created the better chances and finished the game the stronger, ultimately the first half penalty converted by John Swift was the decisive moment of the game. Building on the foundations built in the previous nil-nil showing with Bristol City at the John Smith’s Stadium, it was an organised, solid showing from the Terriers who were frustrated with the result.

In the first half a huge chance from a set play fell to Tom Lees, but he couldn’t keep his header down from a brilliant Ben Jackson delivery, which would have given Town the lead. Following the break, some nice play in midfield moving the ball forward at pace allowed Martyn Waghorn to turn the ball around the corner for David Kasumu to race through one-on-one, but his left footed effort was ultimately miskicked, going wide for a goal kick.

Town have another opportunity to get some much-needed points on the board against Norwich City at home on Wednesday evening, with just two games remaining before the upcoming international break. Having shown renewed levels of belief, fight and desire in the past two outings, the side will be hoping to build on that in front of goal and put all of those positives into one performance at the John Smith’s Stadium.
