The Terriers defended well throughout the 90 minutes and secured a first win since Neil Warnock’s return through Danny Ward, who netted his first goal of 2023 on his 400th league appearance.
Millwall had plenty of shots on the afternoon, albeit mostly from range. Andreas Woglsammer had their best effort early on, sweeping a Murray Wallace pull-back over the crossbar.
Instead, Town grew into the game – and their opponents may have been lucky not to go down to 10 men after an aerial challenge from Jake Cooper on Jack Rudoni.
We were also denied a penalty in the first half after Josh Koroma was felled in the box by Danny McNamara, with the referee waving away the claims.
However, we weren’t to be denied and Ward knocked Ben Jackson’s cross past goalkeeper Long midway through the second half to send the travelling support into raptures!
Town defended resolutely after the goal, but Millwall almost got lucky when former Town man Scott Malone mishit a cross onto the crossbar.
