- Tickets £10 adults, £5 all concessions
- Saturday 29 July 2023, 3pm kick off at John Smith’s Stadium
Bringing an end to our preparations for the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season, we are delighted to be welcoming Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 29 July 2023!
Kicking off at 3pm in HD1, this will be the Terriers first home pre-season friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium open to supporters since the 2019/20 season, when French side Montpellier visited West Yorkshire playing out a 1-1 draw.
Tickets are priced at just £10 adults and £5 for all concessions, with full ticket news and sale dates to follow next week. Initially we will make seats available in the Core Stand – both upper and lower tiers - and the Big Red Upper Tier, but this could expand if demand dictates.
A fixture of the Dutch top flight, SC Heerenveen hail from the north of the Netherlands and finished the 2022/23 season in 8th place in the Eredivisie under Head Coach Kees van Wonderen in his first full season in charge.
Known as ‘De Superfriezen’ - The Super Frisians – the club have been Eredivisie runners-up on three occasions across their history, with a sole KNVB Cup win in the 2008/09 season the biggest piece of silverware to their name to date. Playing their home fixtures in blue and white stripes with black socks, SC Heerenveen also share a former player with the Terriers as Dutch winger Rajiv van La Parra played 82 games for the side between 2011-2014.
Huddersfield Town CEO Jake Edwards commented:
“We’re delighted to announce our first home friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium for four years, and can’t wait to see as many Terriers as possible there for Neil and Ronnie’s first game back in HD1 since extending their spell in charge.
“SC Heerenveen are a great club, and it’s exciting to invite a European side to Huddersfield to round out our pre-season preparations a week before the season begins.
“It promises to be a great occasion as well as a proper test on the pitch, and we’ll look to use this game as a springboard in to what we hope is going to be an exciting 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship campaign for Town!”
The only home announcement of our 2023/24 pre-season schedule following news of our Cornish tour and trip to Edgeley Park to face Stockport County on Saturday 22 July 2023, any further updates regarding the remainder of our pre-season preparations will follow in due course.
