Experienced goalkeeper agrees a two year contract

- Chris Maxwell signs for Huddersfield Town
- Goalkeeper joins the club as a free agent
- Read comments from Manager Neil Warnock

We’re delighted to confirm the signing of Chris Maxwell, who has put pen-to-paper on a two year contract with the club!

The goalkeeper arrives at Huddersfield Town as a free agent having left Blackpool at the end of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship campaign, in which he made 31 starts across league and cup.

He arrives in HD1 with over 400 senior games under his belt, 125 of which have come in the Championship with Blackpool and Preston North End.

The 32-year-old Welshman has also played a century of games in Sky Bet League One, winning the division’s ‘Golden Glove’ award and being named in the divisional Team of the Year as recently as 2021.

Chris joins Town to compete with our number one, Lee Nicholls, for the starting goalkeeper berth, as Manager Neil Warnock explained:

“I’ve always looked at goalkeepers and asked, ‘can they win you points?’ I’ve always liked Chris, as he’s always made crucial saves when we’ve played against him.

“I think he’s a good character and I like the way that he conducts himself. He’s a good trainer too, and they’re the attributes that I think you need.

“We’ve got a great ‘keeper in Lee as well, and Chris’ arrival strengthens that department.”

Chris will take the vacant number 12 shirt for Town in the 2023/24 campaign.
