Goals galore in Cornwall!

- Liskeard Athletic 1-13 Huddersfield Town
- Players show a great attitude in latest friendly
- Many players get on the score sheet

Town’s week of work in Cornwall and Devon ended in style at local side Liskeard Athletic on Saturday afternoon, with several players getting on the scoresheet.

Neil Warnock shuffled his pack for the third friendly of the week, bringing in Jaheim Headley and fit-again Danny Ward to play a 3-5-2, with Josh Ruffels playing as the left-sided centre half and Josh Koroma pushing up front.

Although the Liskeard ‘keeper deserved credit for several good saves throughout, he still couldn’t prevent Town from notching four goals during the first-half.

The two forwards soon combined to open the scoring inside seven minutes, with Ward expertly knocking Koroma’s powerful low cross past the helpless custodian.

Our second followed in the 23rd minute and this time Koroma netted, picking up Ward’s half-cleared cross before setting the ball on this right foot and powering a shot low into the bottom corner.

Liskeard midfielder Max Gilbert scored a fantastic 25 yard strike that gave Lee Nicholls no chance to reduce the arrears soon after, but Jack Rudoni restored the two-goal lead just before the half hour mark. He started the move in midfield and raced into the area to convert Headley’s low cross from around the penalty spot with a smart first-time finish.

The half petered out a little until the final minute, when captain Michał Helik’s raking long pass sent wing back Headley into space. Jaheim stepped inside the final defender and onto his right foot as he entered the penalty area before sweeping the ball past the goalkeeper.

There was no let-up in the second 45, with Koroma netting his second just minutes in after Headley outpaced the home defence before pulling the ball back.

Kian Harratt scored a hat-trick inside 25 second half minutes with a trio of finishes that showcased his ability at knowing where the net is, whilst Sorba Thomas netted a welcome brace either side.

Tyreece Simpson and Ben Jackson both netted too, alongside a second for Jack Rudoni, as the Terriers ran riot.
