Left-back extends stay with Huddersfield Town after signing contract until 2025
- Josh Ruffels agrees new contract until 2025
- 29-year-old left-back joined in summer of 2021
- Comments from Manager Neil Warnock
We are delighted to announce that Josh Ruffels has signed a new contract with the Club, extending his stay until 2025!
Having joined as a free transfer from Oxford United in the summer of 2021, the left-back played the majority of his minutes for Town in the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season, making 33 appearances and scoring three goals as we fought to retain our second flight status. Upon making his debut for the Club against Blackburn Rovers in the 2021/22 campaign, Ruffels became the 1,000th player to represent Town in our history.
Alongside both Danny Ward and Josh Koroma – who have each agreed to their own contract extensions with the Club this summer – Ruffels had initially been listed as ‘released’ by the Club while negotiations took place.
Having grown in his time in West Yorkshire to date across 44 appearances in all competitions, Ruffels played his best football for the Club under Neil Warnock and Ronnie Jepson toward the end of the 2022/23 Sky Bet Championship season as we secured survival under improbable circumstances, with the returning Manager instrumental in extending the left-back’s time as a Terrier.
Commenting on Josh’s new contract, Neil Warnock said:
“The opportunity to resign Josh alongside both Josh Koroma and Danny Ward for me is a no-brainer.
“Ruffels is a great professional, and his addition leaves me in a position where I’m happy with the squad right at the start of pre-season, but we know we need additions further up the pitch.
“I’m delighted to have Josh on board - he’s so reliable, and has been since I’ve been here. He can play numerous positions for me as well, so that’s good to have in our squad.”
Congratulations on the new contract, Josh!
