HUGE PRE-SEASON WIN FOR B TEAM THIS EVENING!

14 July 2023

Four goals and clean sheet in second pre-season friendly for B Team

- Bradford (Park Avenue) 0-4 Huddersfield Town B
- Own goal plus goals from Falls, Rowe and Bapaga
- Clean sheet for Bellagambi and Chapman

It was a huge win for our B Team this evening as they finished 0-4 away at Bradford (Park Avenue) in their second pre-season friendly of the new campaign.

A strong Young Terriers side took to the pitch this evening in difficult weather conditions, following their narrow defeat to Harrogate Town last weekend, which resulted in them bouncing back and winning 0-4 away at Bradford (Park Avenue).

An entertaining 90 minutes saw four goals from different scorers, opened with an own goal from an unlucky Bradford (Park Avenue) defender, followed by goals from Conor Falls, Aaron Rowe and a second half goal from trialist Will Bapaga to close.

Charles Ondo’s performance stood out in the game and within the first five minutes he had worked with Rowe to earn a corner, which amounted to nothing once the ball was deflected out for a goal kick.

Starting in the left-back position today, Ondo used his fancy footwork as he ran onto the ball and turned the player marking him before sending a nice ball to Rowe but there was too much power behind the ball and it went out for a Bradford (Park Avenue) goal kick.

Great defending from David Adewoju and Ondo meant that the first chance for the home team was denied as their trialist had the chance to run onto a ‘dead ball’ inside the box, but this opportunity was taken away by our defenders.

Our captain, Ben Midgley, sent two great crosses into the box from the corner flag but these were both saved by the Bradford (Park Avenue) ‘keeper, Sykes-Kenworthy.

Our youngsters took the lead in the 26th minute through an own goal, which was then almost cancelled out by Mich Lund who went on to almost equalise straight after, but Giosue Bellagambi was there and denied the chance by pushing the ball out for a corner.

Falls made it two for the Young Terriers as he headed the ball that had just been whipped into the box straight to the bottom corner in the 30th minute.

Just before half-time, Town secured their third goal through Rowe as he curled the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box and beat the ‘keeper to the bottom corner.

After going between the sticks for the second half, Jacob Chapman made two great saves between the 61st and 67th minute. The first save saw the young ‘keeper dive to the right to deny the shot on target from the opposition. The second save saw Chapman move quickly to get to the bottom corner in time to block the ball slotting into the back of the net.

In the 84th minute, trialist Will Bapaga scored Town’s fourth and final goal of the game as he fired the ball into the back of the net from just inside the box.

This final goal secured the win and the clean sheet for Town’s youngsters in their first away game of the new season.
