TOWN WOMEN HOST NOTTINGHAM FOREST ON SUNDAY

26 January 2023

HTAFC Women face Nottingham Forest as they return to league action

- Women Terriers return to league action
- Town host the League leaders
- Town Women look to get back into the title race

Huddersfield Town Women will be looking to get back into the race for the FA Women’s National League title race when they host Nottingham Forest at the Stafflex Arena on Sunday 29 January, at 2pm.

Forest have won eight of their 10 matches so far this season - including a 12-0 victory at Fylde, making them the favourites to win the division and gain promotion.

LAST TIME OUT

Huddersfield Town Women last hosted Nottingham Forest in January 2022, where once again Forest were looking to top the table and chase promotion.

Town started well and scored within the first 10 minutes of the game, but Forest started to find their way back into the match after the opening goal. Several free kicks were awarded to the visitors, and although they got closer to the Town Women's goal, nothing went in.

This match will be a tough one, but Town Women will want to open up the top of the league.

Forest go into the match on the back of a big win last time in the league.

Town Women Manager Glen Preston commented:

"We are under no illusions of how important this game is for our season.

“If we win, we propel ourselves right back in with the title challengers and open the league right up.

“If we lose, we know this probably puts us too far away to stay with the pack - those are the margins, but anything is possible”.

Preston then spoke about the opposition and the game itself.

"Forest are in great form, and we know they are one of the favourites (for the title), they made a real statement with their result against Fylde, but they won’t fancy coming to our ground too much either.

“They know when we played them last year just how challenging the game was, and how physical and hard to break down we can be.

“You only have to look at our game against Birmingham, where for 70 minutes they didn't create one meaningful chance in the game, and that's what we need to build our foundation on.

“We just have to keep playing to our identity, we are one of the most intense, physical sides in the league and if we are on our best game then we have every chance of getting a result.”
