Huddersfield Town Women book their place in the semi-finals of this year’s Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA County Cup after 0-8 away victory over Handsworth on Sunday 22 January 2023.

Town booked their place in the semi-finals of this year’s Sheffield and Hallamshire County FA Women’s County Cup and could face Doncaster Belles, Wakefield AFC Reserves or Barnsley Women in the next round.

It was a resounding win in the end for Glen Preston’s side as Laura Hulme bagged a hat-trick, Britt Sanderson bagged brace and then further goals from Yasmin Mason, Serena Fletcher and then an own goal late on rounded off the game late on.

Town struck early as Britt Sanderson opened the scoring after seven minutes as Handsworth failed to deal with the ball and she fired home from close range, Laura Hulme got her first in the game thirteen minutes later as Town dominated and put Handsworth under constant pressure.

Yasmin Mason got her goal nine minutes later as she ran through the defence, looked to cut the ball back inside the box but instead fired high inside the near post to round off a superb solo goal.

Serena Fletcher stayed calm from the spot and stroked home confidently, Handsworth’s ‘keeper getting a hand to it but Fletcher’s shot far too powerful.

Britt Sanderson got her second of the game as she finished well from close range once again.

Laura Hulme would make a quick-fire double to finish off her hat-trick, and a late own goal after Kate Mallin’s corner was volleyed into the back of her won net by the Handsworth ‘keeper.

Town are back in action next weekend as we welcome league leaders Nottingham Forest to the Stafflex Arena.
