Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham spoke about training this week, team news and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Hull City in his latest press conference.

Asked about training this week after the Emirates FA Cup fixture against Preston North End last weekend, Mark said:

“It’s been a good week, we’ve been focussed on trying to iron out the mistakes we’ve made in the past couple of weeks.

“The lads have done so well over Christmas and New Year, so it was frustrating that we didn’t see the performance out against Preston.

“The only way we’re getting out of the situation we’re in is by being together and doing it as a group; we have the best fans in the league, and we want to perform for them.

“The players have been great; they’ve been honest and accepted responsibility of the performance – we park it and move on.”

Fotheringham went on to discuss his attributes as Head Coach and what as well as the loanees returning and the introduction of Anthony Knockaert.

“Everyone knows I’m a passionate and emotional guy, you’ve seen that in the time I’ve been here so when we lose or don’t perform you’ll see that.

“The group deserves a chance to be refreshed because their effort has put us in a position to get out of this situation.

“We’re a different animal to the start of the season, so players returning from loan will need to really impress in training and buy into that.

“The best part of being Head Coach of a Club with our size and stature is that it’s always exciting, Knockaert shows that.”

Our Head Coach updated the press on team news for this weekend.

“Matty Pearson and Ollie Turton aren’t far away – Matty more than Ollie, but they’re both ahead of schedule.

“Jonathan Hogg has trained really well this week; he’s our leader and captain, and we’re really looking forward to having him back this weekend.

“We’re talking to Lee Nicholls and the medical staff every day about his shoulder situation – if we go into the game with Nicholas Bilokapic then we’ll back him because he’s a fantastic young goalkeeper, and if we have Lee available then that will be fantastic as well.

“Danny Ward has a hamstring injury. We all know how important he is to the squad, so we need him back soon.”

Finally, Mark looked ahead to our next Sky Bet Championship fixture against Hull City.

“It’s my duty and responsibility to turn results in our favour, and we’re really looking forward to Hull at the weekend who are a good opponent and have been playing well recently – but so have we.

“We have to give our supporters something to be proud of, they deserve it.”
