Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham spoke about training after the postponed Blackpool game, team news and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Coventry City in his latest press conference.

Asked about training after the Blackpool fixture in the Sky Bet Championship was postponed, Mark said:

“We look really focussed and determined, even without the game at the weekend.

“When the game was postponed we came back and trained for a good hour and a half, and it was probably the best session we’ve had since I arrived.

“We’ve trained really well this week, energy and concentration levels have been really high and we’re looking like we’ve taken another step.”

Fotheringham went on to discuss the recent decision to send Sorba Thomas to Blackburn Rovers on loan for the rest of the season.

“Sorba is a good boy, and we wish him all the best with his loan until the end of the season,

“We’ve just felt that we needed to freshen the squad up in this window; we’ve had some good results lately, and unfortunately Sorba wasn’t getting minutes.

“He’s a player that wants to play games and more minutes, as all players do and we’ve got a selection of players in that position to choose from – this was a move that came about naturally.”

Our Head Coach updated the press on team news ahead of the weekend.

“Unfortunately, following his surgery, Lee Nicholls will be out for the rest of the season; he’s a leader and a great lad, we’ll support him the best we can.

“Young Nick has done brilliantly coming in and he’ll have our full backing, as he did against Hull City.

“In terms of a new goalkeeper , we’re always looking to improve, we’re very forward thinking and we want to recruit well and bring people to make an impact – we have full belief in Nick though and he showed real confidence when he needed to against Hull City.

“Anthony is not training yet as he arrived with a bruised bone in his foot, there is no underlying issue and we expect him to be back really soon, but there is no time scale.

“Martyn Waghorn obviously won’t be involved due to loan restrictions, which is unfortunate because he has trained brilliantly.”

Finally, Mark looked ahead to our next Sky Bet Championship game against Coventry City this weekend.

“We’re really looking forward to this game at the weekend and we’re fully focussed.

“We’re attacking this game like we do every match, we go there to win – we have our match plan and a real consistency to our group at present.

“There’s a real energy about the group at the moment and we’re really looking forward to the challenge against Coventry, we know they are a good side.”
