LOAN WATCH: UPDATE ON OUR LOANEES

20 January 2023

An update on how our loanees are performing as well as a round-up of who is back with the Club

Huddersfield Town currently have 11 players out on loan or work experience during the 2022/23 season gaining valuable experience of first team football.

Ryan Schofield – Hibernian

While Schofield is yet to make an appearance for the Scottish Premiership side, he is back up to the experienced number one, David Marshall.

Michael Roxburgh – Marske United

The Young ‘keeper has made two starts for Marks United since arriving and the seasiders currently sit 20th in the Northern Premier League.

Having continuously impressed during his time with Marske, Roxburgh has had his youth loan extended until the end of the season as he gains experience from being in and around the senior team.

David Adewoju – Bradford (Park Avenue)

The B Team defender went straight into the first team at Bradford (Park Avenue) and started against Spennymore Town on Saturday 14 January.

Although his first game for the National League North side ended in a 3-2 defeat, the youngster got 83 minutes of senior football under his belt.

Donay O’Brien-Brady – Hyde United

O’Brien-Brady was named on the bench for Hyde United at the weekend after his initial one-month loan started last week, ready to come on if he was needed.

The game was a thrilling 4-4 result, and although the Young Terrier wasn’t called-upon, he was in and around the action and prepared to come on.

Romoney Crichlow – Bradford City

Crichlow has become a regular in the starting line-up for Bradford City, making 18 appearances this season so far.

This is the sixth loan that the defender has been on while with Town as he gains experience in different leagues and with different teams.

Shane Maroodza – Bradford (Park Avenue)

The B Team defender has returned Bradford (Park Avenue) on an initial 28-day loan and will be playing alongside teammate David Adewoju.

Since he joined the National league North side, they haven’t had a fixture, so he will be hoping to appear in his first game against Kidderminster on Saturday 21 January.

Josh Austerfield – Harrogate Town

Austerfield made his most recent appearances in the 3-3 thriller against Hartlepool, when he played the full 90 minutes.

Austerfield has created two assists during his time at Harrogate so far this season.

Matty Daly – Harrogate Town

Our second loanee at the north Yorkshire club, Daly has made 23 appearances and scored six goals in all competitions for Harrogate this season.

After being out with a knee injury, Daly is now back in training and preparing for the rest of the season with Harrogate.

Danny Grant – Harrogate Town

Grant has made 15 appearances in total this season, most recently in Harrogate’s 3-1 defeat against Colchester United, where he was named in the starting line-up.

The 23-year-old has scored one goal and made three assists in the first half of the season, and he will be looking to add to this in the business end of the season as the Sulphurites currently sit 20th in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Josh Mazfari - Tadcaster Albion

Mazfari joined Tadcaster Albion on loan on 6 January and went straight into the team on Saturday 7 January for to make his debut in their game against Cleethorpes Town.

Despite the young ‘keeper making the brilliant saves and the side going ahead in the first half, the northern Premier League side were defeated away from home.

Sam Taylor – Northallerton Town

The 18-year-old has made 15 starts between the sticks for the Northern League Division One Club, with his most recent appearance coming in the league game against Guisborough Town, which finished 2-2.

A member of our U19 Group, Taylor is on loan with Northallerton until the end of the season.

Kieran Phillips – Returned from Morecambe

Phillips has returned to Huddersfield Town following the end of his loan with Morecambe.

Having scored seven times in 23 appearances in all competitions, the forward has recently suffered a significant hamstring injury, which will keep him sidelined.

Jaheim Headley - Returned from Harrogate Town

Connor Shanks

The B Team Midfielder reached a mutual agreement with the Club to terminate his contract, allowing him to pursue other opportunities.
