French defender heads to the Scottish Premiership!

- Loick Ayina joins Dundee United on loan
- French defender made his Town debut in the Emirates FA Cup
- Comments from Loans Manager David Fox

B Team defender Loick Ayina has today joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee United on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 season.

The 19-year-old Frenchman, who made his senior Town debut in our Emirates FA Cup game at Preston North End in January, now moves north of the border to further his experience of the senior game.

Loick joined the Town Academy in the summer of 2019 and has progressed rapidly through the age groups, whilst enjoying his first taste of senior football with a 2021 loan spell at Boston United.

Managed by Liam Fox, the Terrors currently sit 11th in the 12-team Scottish top-flight. They play at Hearts on Saturday.

Loans Manager David Fox commented:

“This move represents a fantastic opportunity for Loick to further his development. There has been a lot of interest in him as the close of the window approached, and this move to Dundee United offers Loick a chance to play football at a really good level, whilst also being a huge change in his surroundings too.

“We will monitor Loick closely and give him all the support he needs, just as I know the good people at Dundee United will too. He’s a very talented, promising young player, and I hope he has a real impact on his new club.”

Best of luck, Loick!
