We can confirm that B Team goalkeeper Giosue Bellagambi has signed for Sky Bet League Two side Salford City on loan for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.
A senior Ugandan international, the 21-year-old goalkeeper has already been on loan twice this season with Hyde United and Spennymoor Town, with the step up to Sky Bet League Two a reflection of his fine form across 2022/23 to date.
Having kept a clean sheet on his debut for Uganda against Libya in September 2022 in a friendly, Gio has gone from strength to strength since joining Town from Lambeth Tigers in 2018.
Head of Goalkeeping Paul Clements commented:
“Gio is a great example of our goalkeeping pathway at the Club, as he’s unrecognisable from the boy who signed from Lambeth Tigers five years ago which is a credit to his application.
“We’ve worked really hard with him both on and off the field to make sure he has the right body and frame to match his skillset, and that’s showing.
“Having played so well for both Hyde United and Spennymoor Town already this season, giving him a chance in the EFL with Salford is the correct next step in his career and one he deserves.”
Loan Manager David Fox added:
“Salford are a club we know really well, and we know how much fellow B Team goalkeeper Jacob Chapman enjoyed his time there on loan earlier this season.
“This is another great challenge for Gio who has passed every test thrown at him with flying colours so far, and it is brilliant to see another of our B Team players getting a chance in the Football League.”
Good luck, Gio!
