- Comments from Loan Manager David Fox

We can confirm that B Team midfielder Josh Austerfield has been recalled from his loan with Sky Bet League Two side Harrogate Town and will subsequently join Sky Bet League One side Morecambe for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

Having initially joined Harrogate Town on loan this time last season in January 2022, the midfielder rejoined the club on loan once again this summer, effectively spending the last year on loan with the North Yorkshire side.

Impressing in midfield in Sky Bet League Two, he now makes the jump to Sky Bet League One with Morecambe for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. With 23 appearances to his name in all competitions so far this season for Harrogate Town, the 21-year-old has contributed two assists.

Loan Manager David Fox commented:

“Josh has effectively been with Harrogate for a year now and it’s been a brilliant experience for him in Sky Bet League Two, but we feel now is a good time for him to test himself at a higher level.

“A change of scenery, a fresh challenge and a higher league for the remainder of the season are all brilliant experiences for Josh to face and overcome, and we look forward to seeing how he progresses in the remainder of the campaign.

“I’d like to thank Harrogate for their care of Josh during his time there, and we’re certain that Morecambe will be an equally positive experience for him at such a pivotal stage of his young career.”

Good luck, Josh!
