Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham said his the goals his side conceded at Deepdale were “unacceptable” as Town bowed out of the Emirates FA Cup in the Third Round.

After a largely uneventful first half, Town came out of the break a better side, eventually hitting the lead through new signing Florian Kamberi on debut. With a chance not long after to restore the lead, the forward saw his strike cleared off the line, which is where the game turned.

Conceding an unfortunate own goal through Tom Lees, and then strikes from Diaby and Browne, the Terriers fell 3-1 at Deepdale in our fourth meeting with Preston North End of the season.

Commenting on the game, Fotheringham said:

“We scored a great goal to go one up against a good side, and then Florian Kamberi has another massive chance that he needs to take, and he has to score.

“The game swung in their direction and it’s unacceptable, the goals we conceded were embarrassing.

“It comes down to concentration if you let them off the hook like that. I feel like we lost our shape, probably due to a lot of new faces coming into the team – and like I said, the goals we conceded were unacceptable.

“We have to take a good look at ourselves moving forward now because in the last two games the goals we’ve conceded have not been us.”
