Taking charge of his first Town match since 1995, Manager Neil Warnock spoke of his pride at full-time when discussing the game with HTTV.
An emotional afternoon at the John Smith’s Stadium, the returning Manager was met with a rapturous ovation before kick-off alongside Assistant Ronnie Jepson, and said that it was both the players and supporters who has made him proud.
“It was a good performance.
“I’m so proud of the lads and the fans today – when I came out it was quite embarrassing really, I felt sorry for Birmingham City!
“I’ve come back here for 15 difficult games, but I’ve come back here to put smiles back on people’s faces.
“The players are exhausted because they’ve never worked so hard in their lives, and I’ve asked them ‘how do you feel? how do you feel sat in this dressing room tonight?’ and everybody was absolutely buzzing.
“You’ve got to put that sort of endeavour in, your crowd has got to put that sort of endeavour in to get results like that in this, and the rest is history.”
