Interim Head Coach Narcís Pèlach spoke to HTTV at full-time after our one nil loss to Wigan Athletic away from home, admitting that the performance and result were not what he desired.
Speaking shortly after the match ended, Pèlach said:
“This is not what we wanted, the second half killed us.
“It’s not acceptable, we have to improve our performance and our level if we want to win the games that we need.
“On the other hand, the first half was okay. It was more balanced, I would say, but obviously after we did what we did in the second half we have to improve.”
With another away fixture in the Sky Bet Championship with Stoke City in midweek, Narcís said that the side cannot dwell on the result.
“This is what I’ve said to the dressing room: we have to clear the mind quick, we have to try to improve what we did wrong in the second half quick, because on Wednesday we have another game and we have to put energy there to try to win the game.
“With 16 games to go, we need to win that game so we need to review this quickly, analyse what we did wrong and then try to take the little positives things from the first half, but there’s a lot to improve.”
Speaking about his own emotions, our Interim Head Coach admitted that the result hurt, and the intention now will be to put that feeling right in midweek.
“I’m the first one to admit, this is really painful.
“We came here with one idea, with one plan to try and get the three points that we want.
“I cannot criticise the players in terms of attitude, I think that they showed that they want this and that makes me happy, because they show that they want this and achieve this.
“But in the end, the performance is not good enough and we have to go again on Wednesday and it has to happen quick.”
