Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham spoke about team news, the quick turn-around for games during this period and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Blackpool in his latest press conference.

Asked about his team news ahead of our Sky Bet Championship fixture against Blackpool, Mark said:

“Duane was nursing a really tight calf in training last week; the medical staff had decided it was best to just rest it and he is going for a scan today – hopefully it’s not too serious, as he’s been an important player for us.

“Michał Helik took a knock to his knee and we are still seeing how that will settle down, thankfully we have real competition at the back.

“Our games hinge on big moments, and after our transfer activity in January, I believe we have the ability to take these big moments now.

“It is impossible that anyone can play every minute at the moment, given how many games we have; it will be the entire squad that gets us out of this situation.”

Fotheringham went on to discuss the need of positivity around the players during this busy period of the season as we aim to move up the table.

“The only way of getting out of this is by being positive, which is what I’m being daily – I have to give these players belief, any negativity can be left at the front door, I’m not interested because we’re working so hard to get out of this situation.

“What has impressed me about this group is that they’ve never let their heads go down – they stay positive.

“I think a lot of the players are performing for us, but we need to start turning that into wins, and not just one win but a series of them.

“We have some massively important games coming up, we’re hunting the teams above us now – we have 18 games to go between now and the end of the season, and each one feels like a six-pointer.”

Finally, our Head Coach looked ahead to our next Sky Bet Championship fixture against Blackpool.

“We’re in the same boat as Blackpool, we’re all fighting for our lives towards the bottom.

“They have great players and a very experienced manager, who has been very successful, but we are very focussed and we’re going there to win.”
