Huddersfield Town Head Coach Mark Fotheringham spoke about the transfer window, team news and our upcoming Sky Bet Championship game against Queens Park Rangers in his latest press conference.

Asked about the transfer business that was done on Deadline Day, Mark said:

“We did our homework with Paul Clements on Jordan Smith, we felt he could come into the building and push our younger goalkeeper.

“Everybody knows what Tomáš has done in the game, he’s got a great energy and presence and after the unfortunate injury to Lee Nicholls, we needed somebody like him.

“I want to wish Jon Russell the best of luck, he’s a great kid and we appreciate his efforts and what he has done for the Club in the past, but other players have deserved the opportunity to play more, that’s all.

“We have a lot of talented players in the squad, but we can’t afford to be experimenting, we need experience.”

Our Head Coach then looked at the positives ahead of these weekend and being back in front of a home crowd at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“There’s so many positives ahead of this weekend’s game – we worked hard against Coventry, but we didn’t look dangerous enough in attack, so we’ve been working on that.

“We believe in this group, we’ve so many good players and they’ve been working hard.

“It feels like forever since we’ve played at home, I love playing at home in front of our crowd.”

Fotheringham updated the press on team news ahead of the weekend.

“Anthony Knockaert is very much in my thoughts for the weekend, and he’ll give everybody a real lift.

“All of the new additions have brought a real energy, and there’s a chance of six home debuts this weekend, that’s exciting and I’m looking forward to it.

“Danny Ward has been out on the grass doing some individual work, so he’s not looking too far away either, which is a huge boost.”

Finally, Mark looked forward to this weekend against QPR in the Sky Bet Championship.

“This game and the next five games are going to define our season in 15 games, and alongside the players, I’m under no illusion on how important this will be.

“It’s only going to be hard work and determination that gets us out of this situation, and that starts tomorrow.”
